CFTC considers approving spot cryptocurrency trading at some futures exchanges

According to Hash Chain News, the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) is exploring how to allow certain registered futures exchanges to list leveraged digital assets such as Ethereum and Bitcoin. Acting Chair Caroline Pham stated that the CFTC can currently implement a clear and simple solution. The CFTC has sought public comment on the listing of Spot Crypto Assets contracts by futures exchanges, with the deadline for comments set for August 18. The CFTC indicated that this initiative is not waiting for congressional legislative authorization for direct regulation of non-securities crypto assets. The Crypto Assets Market Structure Bill passed in the House of Representatives but still requires Senate review. This announcement is the first step in the CFTC's launch of a crypto asset sprint program, following the White House's release of a policy document on digital asset regulation.
