According to Mars Finance, CNBC reported that the U.S. government has lifted restrictions on the export of chip design software to China. Chip design software giants Synopsys and Cadence have both confirmed this news and stated that they are restoring software and technology access for Chinese clients. Previously, on May 23, 2025, the U.S. required multiple companies, including Synopsys, Cadence, and Siemens EDA, to obtain licenses before exporting to China. These three companies together account for about 74% of the global electronic design automation ( EDA ) market share. This move follows a conditional agreement reached last week between China and the U.S. regarding a trade truce, with China agreeing to restore some rare earth and advanced technology exchanges.
